Changes in the Massachusetts Medical Marijuana Program:
There have been some important changes in Massachusetts regulations governing the medical use of marijuana. At the heart of these changes is the creation of a web-based registry of state residents qualified to use marijuana for medical purposes: the MMJ Online System. Since February 1, 2015, registration on the state's MMJ Online System is the only accepted identification for the legal use, possession, cultivation, and purchase of marijuana. The MMJ Online System is coupled with a state photo ID system which provides each registered patient with an ID card (similar to a driver's license) attesting to their enrollment in the Massachusetts medical marijuana program. Paper certifications are no longer valid.
